Comments: Your presentation at our school was so strong. It really helped me understand the dangers of all of these drugs. I knew that they were dangerous but i never knew the actual effects. I actually sried during the presentation. Thank you so much for coming to our school. You really do have the courage to speak and that is a very important trait and a very hard one. I give you a lot of credit!!!

Comments: I really enjoyed your presentation at my school. Your story really touched my heart and my classmates hearts. I actually cried a little. I am glad you had the Courage to share your story with us. Our teachers always tried to tell us about how drugs are bad, but never had we heard a true life story. I am sure that going to the high school next year id going to be difficult and we probably are going to be offered drugs, but i am going to remember your story forever. Thank you so much!

Comments: Your story truely touched me. God Bless you. I've always been taught that are the "wrong" thing to do, and even though I kept that in the back of my head.. ideas of what it would be like still came to mind. After hearing Ian's story it scares me to even think of trying etc. I just want you to know that you ARE making differences in peoples lives. Thank you for taking your time to share Ian's story with people. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose a child. Stay strong, Molly

Comments: I applaud Ginger and the work of her foundation,'Courage to Speak'. Our son made some really poor choices. All non-working. We did not know the extreme extent of his drug and alcohol use in middle and early high school years. We were overwhelmed and scared when we found out.

At home we were living a nightmare. We were living in a prison. We did not know where to turn.

Finally, we intervened. We sent him to a lock-down school where they worked with him 24/7. We, in turn, also attended seminars for parents. We worked together to achieve a whole, happy and healthy family.

Erik is back home after 16 months. He graduated the program. It is important that all parents intervene and take that important step early in their teens life. We did. I would be happy to talk to anyone that has fears about stepping up to the plate. And Erik would also be happy to speak.....

Comments: Ginger and Family: I truly applaud your action in getting the courage to "speak up." My cousin went to school and graduated with your son. I am helped by your wonderful website and I pray that the Lord will give you continued strength to carry on this great mission so that other parents will no longer be afraid but muster up the courage to speak, ask their children what is going on, believe in their children and prayerfully, they will live on with productive lives. I am blessed to know that your son did well in school and college, it shows that you put some very good values and expectations upon him to do well. I am sorry that he chose to use drugs, I'm sorry that so many others still choose to use. I pray that through your diligent work, that many will be spared the torture, pain and anguish of addiction; I pray for the parents too, like you who care and dare to muster up, "the courage to speak." God bless.

Today I said good-bye
To your precious life I loved
Today God sent your special soul
To Heaven up above
In my heart and in my mind
Is where you'll always stay And every night before I sleep
A prayer for you I'll say

I love and I miss you
Wherever you may be
You've been given wings to fly
To your new home where you are free

I know you're watching over me
To ease me through my pain
I feel you in my precense
As the tears fall down like rain

I know I must be strong
In order to move on
Even though It's difficult
To realize that you're gone
May you always rest in peace
With the good Lord at your side
May I remember all the happiness
You made me feel inside

I love and I miss you
Wherever you may
You've been given wings to fly
To your new home where you are free!

Comments: My heart goes out to you. I have a 28 year old brother who has been doing crack for 13 years and about two years ago started heroin as well. He was hard core. Just 3 days ago he purchased $300.00 dollars worth and went to a cheap hotel. My brother had a huge heart attack and overdose. Someone called 911 and when they got to my brother he was not breathing and his lung were filled with fluid, his blood pressure was barely registering. The Dr. called our family and said you need to get here quick your brother is in serious condition. Minutes away from death. Miracles do happen because my brother survived. The Doctors and nurses are amazed but he did damage to his heart now and he needs to stay sober or his heart won\'t take it. My brother says that he is scared and that he will never do drugs but our family is still scared. His words were that, " I never thought I could have died that night."

Comments: I am really sorry to what happened to Ian. After hearing your speech, I have a 100% chance that I will never use drugs. Programs that taught me not to use drugs were effective but not as effective as your prgram. Courage to speak is run by a leader who lost her son from drugs and that is the most important and effective example. Hopefully, your program will not only convince people in Connecticut or the US. Hopefully, your program will convince people al around thw world. Good Luck!

Comments: I seen a special on a news show while i was at work. It really got to me. The story really touched my heart. I think everyone should know the dangers of drugs and addictions. This way they would at least be aware of the dangers that are out there. I was in tears by the end of it. I just wanted to say that I like the way the story was presented in a very personel way.

Comments: Hi, This is my first time writing here. My mom recommended this site to me she loves it. I just felt like talking tonight and figured this is a good place to do it. I have been feeling pretty sad lately about my twin brother Jason who passed away 9-11-03 from a drug overdose. I miss him so much everyday and it really hurts. I have many people to talk to but no-one really understands. Its so hard sometimes like one day I will be ok then another I just get that feeling of doom knowing he is never coming back and its such an awful feeling. Im not going to write a book I mean it is my first time here so I just wanted to get some things off my chest. Thank you for listening!!!

Comments: Hi, I just wanted to say how powerful your speach was today. You have alot courage to go up in front of the school and talk about what happened to your loving son, and how you are trying to change other people\'s lives. I think it might have changed some peoples but others might have kinda just went in one ear and out the other. But, to me it was very powerful, not that I have ever did any drugs but I still no that they are not good and I have always like knew the things that would happened and I would not like what happened to your son happen to me. Your speech was very good and thank-you so much for coming in and telling our school that heartbreaking story. Hopefully it went throught some people\'s head and they will never do the drugs or if they do hopefully they will stop. Thank-you so much. God bless you. Very sorry to hear what happened to your son.

Comments: Dear Mr & Mrs. Katz,
today you presented a presentation at my school, Trumbull High School. I was deeply touched and motivated by your presentation. It made me think about my life, as well as my family\'s. Although I have never lost anyone to drug addiction.. I have seen it first hand and it is a very scary thing to deal with. I just wanted to thankyou and let you know that you helped a lot of people today, including myself. After your presentation, I talked to you Mrs. Katz and just talking to you made me feel better. Thank you so much for everything, you have helped me more than you will ever realize. Keep doing an amazing job, you are changing the world one person at a time. I will keep you both in my prayers. All My Thanks, Melissa

Comments: This seems like a great thing you are doing in honor of your son. My family and I lost our Joey (which was my baby brother of 20yrs old) on June 30,2004 it seems like forever ago but then again the pain seems still so freach. Like you Ian our Joey lost his life to what they call the new herion the kid\'s are using now which is oxycotin. Some day I would love to be able to do something like this in my brother\'s honor because he would not want anyone to have to hurt the way we do. Joey was our family heart ache but he was also the light in our day\'s. Life as we once knew it is forever changed.

Comments: Mrs. Katz:
I just wanted to say that there is a major epidemic of drug awareness due to all of the recent tragedies locally and nationally. I think that for all that you are doing for your son, yourself, and the nation, that everyone should reflect, and give something back to you. Hopefully that will be the courage to say no to drugs.

Comments: The Courage to Speak was the most influential message given to my high school. It brought many tears to my eyes and my fellow classmates eyes. Ian was an angel from heaven and so isn\'t his mother, Mrs. Katz and her entire family, for doing this across the country. I have never been more touched and appreciative after hearing Mrs. Katzs\' story. I truly have never once even considered trying drugs, but if my friends or I ever once were pressured into doing drugs, the face of Ian and Mrs. Katz would come into my mind. I will help Mrs. Katz get her story across to more teens by spreading the word throughout my school and helping to decrease the amount of deaths because of drug overdoses. God Bless Ian and the enitre Katz family. You all had a major affect on my life.
