The Courage To Speak Drug Prevention Parenting Curriculum called "Courageous Parenting 101™"
A four to five session program developed by the Courage to Speak Foundation, Inc. and implemented by experts in prevention as a follow up to The Courage To Speak parent presentation. This comprehensive program is designed to help parents understand addiction. Some topics will included Prevention, Detection, Intervention and Support.

For Middle Schools and High Schools
These innovative school-based programs target seventh and ninth graders-age groups particularly vulnerable to using gateway drugs such as tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs. Based on national standards for effective prevention programs, the programs are carefully designed to inspire students to resist drugs help them make healthier decisions. Each program begins with The Courage To Speak Presentation which is followed by a series of 12-14 highly interactive classroom activities taught by the school's health or other teachers who have been trained by The Courage To Speak.

For Elementary Schools
Based on national standards for
effective prevention education, this program is
designed for fourth, fifth and sixth graders. It
will include a groundbreaking age-appropriate book
for youngsters about the Katz family story called
Sunny's Story written by Ginger Katz. see

for students can also include a strong parent
component to help parents reinforce what
their children are learning in the classroom.
Parents will receive a guide to the program with

Family Night Album
A unique and very special feature of The Courage To Speak Curriculum Programs. Children, parents, teachers and community leaders--the mayor, the police chief, business and spiritual leaders and news media-come together to see what the children have learned in the programs and talk together honestly-perhaps for the first time-about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs.

Events for children and families that encourage participation in healthy passions including the Courage To Speak Basketball Classic.

-Educational Outreach Program

Parents and family members who have lost a child to drug abuse are recruited and trained to use The Courage To Speak Video Presentation and Facilitator's Guide to inspire an honest discussion about drugs between adults and children in their schools and communities.

-Referral Help-Line

Provides families seeking aid for addicted children with a broad base of information about treatment facilities, counseling, support and other relevant details.

-The Courage To Speak Support Group
|
|
|
|
The Courage to Speak Support Group was created as a lifeline for parents who have lost children to drugs. The monthly support group meets in Connecticut and Ginger is frequently contacted by grieving parents through the Internet and by phone. Disseminates information to children, parents, educators and others through print, radio and television. Courage To Speak is an important media resource for information related to drug prevention at the local, regional and national levels.
