Ginger Katz to Speak at NATIONAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AREA
Norwalk, CT - Ginger Katz, CEO and Founder is headed to the Washington, D.C. area to join more than 2,000 substance abuse prevention specialists and advocates from throughout the country for Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America's (CADCA) 23rd Annual National Leadership Forum.
Ginger Katz has been invited to present Ian's Story and share the Courage to Speak® Foundation drug prevention education programs developed in Norwalk, CT with teams of Norwalk schools principals, teachers and professionals in the field of drug prevention education for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as Courage to Speak - Courageous Parenting 101® a free multi-session course for parents offered in English and Spanish. The Foundation works to engage home, school and community in this public health endeavor to keep our children safe from drugs.
“We are so excited to be able to spend time with similar organizations from across the country, learning and honing our prevention skills so our community can be a better place, one that doesn’t suffer from the harms of drug and alcohol abuse as my son Ian did,” says Ginger Katz. “We hope to come back reenergized with new strategies under our belt to tackle drug use in Connecticut and beyond.”
CADCA’s Forum will cover a wide range of topics – everything from how to prevent prescription drug abuse and the abuse of synthetic drugs like bath salts and K2 to how to create tobacco-free environments and develop policies to reduce underage and excessive drinking. Workshops and plenary sessions are offered by experts at the local, state and federal level.
CADCA’s National Leadership Forum, the nation’s largest training conference for community prevention leaders, treatment professionals and researchers and SAMHSA’s 9th Prevention Day, will take place at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center Feb. 4-7.
